We’re now into week three of language study and we’re both muttering Kiswahili in our dreams – that is when we are actually asleep and able to dream and we’re not being afflicted as happened the other night.
One solitary mosquito managed to make its way inside our net and that was that.
It performed an aerial show that would rival the Red Arrows in both acrobatics and sound levels. It managed to bite us several times too despite our flailing around like lunatics.
We finally succeeded in killing it at about 6.00am. Thankfully, on the advice of our colleagues we have upped our malarial protection during our stay in Nairobi as there is a higher risk of contracting it here than in Eldoret: so we hope all will be well on that front.
And the moral of the story?
”If you think you are too small to make a difference you have never spent the night with a mosquito.” – The Dalai Lama
